Big data and Hadoop workshop was conducted on 5 and 6 of October 2018. Mr. Mohamed Sadullah, Senior Analyst, Bank of America, Chennai was the resource person. These two days’ workshop was meant to enlighten the students on latest big data era. Students were taught about the concepts of big data, hadoop file system, distributed processing, mapreduce, partitioning etc. The hands-on sessions really helped the students in gaining insights into the methodologies used to process huge data. The students were guided to do exercises on hadoop, hive, impala and sqoop applications. The resource person also addressed about various job opportunities in the field of big data. He also discussed many use cases and inspired the students to focus on big data and related technologies in order to achieve better career path. Finally, as an outcome of this workshop the resource person has promised to guide the students in real-time use cases and students are interested to involve themselves in to these real-time projects to get better hold on these latest trends in technologies.
