Department of Computer Science and Engineering organized One Day Workshop on “Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence”  in association with Aspirant Research Hub, Chennai on 02.02.2019 for third year computer science and engineering students.

First session was introduction to the AI  and Machine Learning. Machine learning is a core sub-area of artificial intelligence as it enables computers to get into a mode of self-learning without being explicitly programmed. When exposed to new data, computer programs, are enabled to learn, grow, change, and develop by themselves. The second sessions were completely hands on, the following areas are covered in this session.

Artificial Intelligence

Problem Solving

Solving Problems by Searching and Beyond Classical Search

Knowledge and Reasoning

Logical Agents, First-Order Logic and Inference in First-Order Logic

Learning

Learning from Examples, Knowledge in Learning, Learning Probabilistic Models and Reinforcement Learning

Introduction and ANN Structure

Biological neurons and artificial neurons, Model of an ANN, Activation functions used in ANNs and Typical classes of network architectures

MACHINE LEARNING

Bias-Variance tradeoff, Regularisation, Over-fitting, Support Vector Machines, Kernel Trick, PCA and Kernel PCA, K Means Clustering

This workshop was organized to facilitate the student to effectively learn machine learning tools and techniques to undertake projects and research work.
