A one day Industrial visit to U A Rao Satellite centre (ISRO), Bengaluru was organized by Department of Computer Science and engineering on 19th july 2018. It was a half day (2 hrs from 10.00am to 12.00pm) visit by 46 students of final year students accompanied by faculty C.Kotteeswaran, Associate Professor, R.Sugumar, Associate Professor (Co-ordinator) and K.Bhuvaneshwari, Assistant Professor.

The main objective behind the visit was to make student aware about how various activities related to satellite is carried out in ISRO and give them knowledge about the working of it.

Mr.H.L. Srinivasa, Senior Scientist, ISRO, welcomed the gathering and guided the students with initial demo videos of basic need of satellite, its importance and invention, different kinds with the evolutionary background, satellite preparation, and rocket launch and having the knowledge about fours ISRO centres in India.

The visit was humongous benefit for students. There is a space exhibition centre at ISAC. Scientist explained each and every unit of satellite components and its working behaviour in different conditions. We also identified with the first Indian satellite Aryabhatta, APPLE, INSAT series etc. Satellites are basically of two types – Indian Remote Sensing (IRS) satellites and Communication satellites. Followed by brief session on Mangalyan & Chandrayan, simulation on GSLV (Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle). The volunteers has given an insight of ASLV – which was the first launcher made under the supervision of Dr.A.P.J.AbdulKalam. Students were fascinated by checking the details of PSLV – (Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle). The students were facilitated to view the making of present satellite that is going to launch in coming year. Finally we received the SHAR NEWS, The House Magazine of Satish Dhawan Space Centre.

We thank ISRO officials for given an opportunity to visit their organization.
