The Department of Civil Engineering, C. Abdul Hakeem College of Engineering and Technology, organized an industrial visit to a Ready-Mix Concrete (RMC) Plant on 15.07.2026 for the benefit of Civil Engineering students. The primary objective of the visit was to provide practical knowledge on concrete mix design and the production process of ready-mix concrete.
During the visit, the plant engineers explained the selection of raw materials, proportioning of cement, fine and coarse aggregates, water, and chemical admixtures used in different grades of concrete. Students observed the computerized batching system, quality control procedures, and the transportation of concrete using transit mixers. The importance of maintaining the correct water-cement ratio, workability, strength, and durability of concrete was also demonstrated.
The industrial visit helped students bridge the gap between classroom theory and industry practice. It enhanced their understanding of mix design principles, quality assurance, and modern concrete production techniques, making the visit both informative and beneficial for their academic and professional development.
