STUDENT ORIENTATION PROGRAMME

The Department of Information Technology successfully organized a Two-Day Student Orientation Programme for the Second Year B.Tech. Information Technology students on 28th and 29th June 2026. The programme aimed to familiarize students with the department’s vision, academic regulations, industry expectations, mentoring system, and various co-curricular opportunities. The sessions also motivated students to develop technical, professional, and interpersonal skills required for their future careers.

Day 1 Report (28.06.2026)

The programme commenced at 10:00 a.m. with the recitation of the Qirath, followed by the Tamil Thai Vazhthu, invoking blessings for the successful conduct of the event.

The gathering was warmly welcomed by Ms.Banu R., Assistant Professor, Department of Information Technology and Programme Coordinator, who welcomed the dignitaries, chief guest, faculty members, and students. She highlighted the objectives of the orientation programme and encouraged students to make the best use of the two-day event.

The Inaugural Address was delivered by Dr. M. Sasikumar, Principal, who emphasized the importance of discipline, continuous learning, professional ethics, and active participation in academic and extracurricular activities.

This was followed by the Address by Dr. Md. Muzaffer Hussain, Vice Principal, who motivated students to develop technical competencies, communication skills, and leadership qualities to meet industry expectations.

The Department Vision and Mission were presented by Dr. S. Umamaheswari, Professor & Head, Department of Information Technology, who explained the department’s academic objectives, curriculum structure, research opportunities, placement initiatives, and expectations from students throughout their academic journey.

The Chief Guest Felicitation was conducted in honour of Dr.Sweta Bhattacharya, Associate Professor Grade II, School of Computer Science Engineering & Information Systems, VIT University, Vellore.

Day 2 Report (29.06.2026)

The second day of the orientation programme commenced at 11:00 a.m. with the Master Mentoring Session delivered by Dr. E. Gokulan, MBBS., MD (Psychiatry), Assistant Surgeon, Government District Headquarters Hospital, Walajapet.

Dr.Gokulan conducted an engaging and insightful session on mental health awareness, stress management, emotional well-being, time management, healthy lifestyle practices, and maintaining a positive mindset during academic life. He emphasized the importance of balancing academic responsibilities with personal well-being and encouraged students to seek guidance whenever required. The interactive mentoring session enabled students to openly discuss various challenges faced during college life and provided practical strategies to overcome them.
